About Jon

Born in Providence, RI, on April 27, 1989, Jon grew up in Cranston, Rhode Island. He graduated from Bishop Hendricken High School before receiving an associate of science in registered nursing from the Community College of Rhode Island and a bachelor of science in nursing from the University of Rhode Island. Prior to his time at Cedars-Sinai, Jon was an intensive care nurse at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Boston, MA, and a registered nurse at Westerly Hospital in Westerly, RI.

Jon insisted on happiness and joy at all times; there was no other option when in his presence. The energy he brought to each conversation was unparalleled, and his full-body hugs were a physical manifestation of the intensity and focus he brought to each interaction. Jon had charisma, and with that, a vast network of friends and family who each saw him as an important figure in their life. He was always your biggest hype man – your loudest cheerleader. He helped countless friends realize their fullest potential, showcasing how stepping out of your comfort zone and living an authentic life was not only possible but essential.

His love for quality Italian food was a stark contrast to his obsession with Panda Express and other junk foods. There wasn’t an Oreo flavor he wasn’t willing to try and anytime he visited Rhode Island, he’d fill a suitcase with coffee syrup before flying home.

Jon’s incessant dancing and singing showcases how he brought the party wherever he went. From dancing while completing chores around the house to filling car rides with belting out ballards, to being the first to suggest a night out downtown, Jon was always turning up the music and encouraging everyone onto the dance floor.

Jon will be remembered most for the joy and energy he exuded, but also for the things he loved most and put at the forefront of his public persona. His dog, Peppers, and cats, Bambino and Pasquale, were given primetime placement on his social media channels and became online celebrities in their own right.

Jon’s life was lived with a devotion for kindness. The fulfillment Jon found in helping others was exemplified in his work, most recently as a Cardiovascular Intensive Care Nurse at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles. In recent months, his desire to bring more joy to people’s lives was seen in his exploration of creating a nonprofit to do just that.

As a way to continue his devotion for kindness, his friends have created the #JONSJOY campaign to help keep Jon’s light shining bright for all eternity.
